Organizations want to wow their customers and the Customer Service Week is usually an ample opportunity to do so. However, going above-and-beyond on a single week out of the 52 weeks of the year cannot be counted as top-notch customer service experience.
Although it is just the first week of October that is recognized globally as Customer Service Week, it doesn’t mean that all efforts should be concentrated towards proving to customers that we celebrate their patronage with parties and numerous gifts because at the end of the day, it’s not the size of the celebration within that week that counts. It is the countless sacrifices of employees that build up to this period that makes all the difference.
The true ‘magic of service’ as this year’s theme behooves simply means that consistent recognition of customers and employees should be done every other day. That service is a culture that is lived out daily and not just on selected days of the year.
All through 2019, the HEART of Sterling worked tirelessly in the various sectors of Health, Education, Agriculture, Renewable Energy and Transportation. Of course, judging from our leading status in Agriculture, our feats would not have started just this past week. Loans of about 558 billion naira has been disbursed to farmers this year alone.
From launching the 1st digital commodity trading platform powered by blockchain technology to developing a first-of-its-kind digital demand-supply bridge in renewable energy while providing access to finance, Sterling has been creating magic for her customers.
Sponsoring 200 youths to attend Teach for Nigeria Teaching Institute while paying for 55 school leaders to be taught at the School Leadership Programme, among other projects, can only tell you how far we would go to ensure that the Nigerian children, both of our customers and non-customers are taught by the best hands.
In all, magic is surpassing what was previously done. Magic is extending excellent service to those who don’t patronize us while making those who do, feel special for doing so. This is the Sterling dream and we are living it.
