FAQs on Sterling Debit Cards
The Sterling Debit card costs N1,000 with an additional N75 VAT Charge.
You can get a debit card by requesting on OneBank, visiting the Sterling Bank branch closest to you, or contacting customer service.
Two (2) accounts – Savings & Current
There are 3 ways to activate:
In Branch Activation:
- Select your preferred four-digit PIN using the Twig POS at Sterling Bank branch.
ATM Activation
- Insert your Debit Card in the ATM
- Select “New card? Select PIN
- Enter a default four-digit PIN
- Select “Proceed button” to generate OTP
- See “Kindly note that your mobile phone will be used to complete your PIN selection”
- Enter the OTP on your mobile phone
- See successful PIN change.
OneBank Mobile App Activation:
- Login to OneBank App
- Go to Cards Menu
- Click on the Card Activation
- Select the card to activate
- Create a four-digit Pin
- Activate Card
USSD activation:
- Dial * 822 * 19 #
- Select 1 (Card Activation)
- Select Card Number you wish to activate. Ensure expiry date displayed matches the expiry date on card
- Set your preferred four-digit PIN
- *For POS transactions, ensure to change your pin on our ATM

You can use your Mastercard for International transactions. Your Verve card can be used for domestic transactions only.
Yes. You can make web purchases and use POS terminals that accept Verve and (or) Mastercard for payments.
Yes. For any purchase on the internet, you will receive a One Time Password (OTP) via SMS or email to validate you are the one using your Card.

No. Your card must be activated (PIN Reset) before you can transact.
You can link the Mastercard Platinum Card to the USD Domiciliary account and link the Mastercard Gold Card to the GBP Domiciliary account.
