Professionals networking and preparing for a social impact summit in a modern conference venue.

In five days, the Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) 2026 will bring together thousands of people with one thing in common: a desire to create meaningful impact.

Some will be attending for the first time. Others are returning because they know the value of the conversations, connections, and ideas that come out of the summit.

If you’re planning to attend, this is a good time to prepare. A little planning before the event can make a big difference to what you take away from it.

Here are five simple ways to get the most out of your ASIS experience.

1. Go Beyond the Theme

This year’s theme, “Financing for Development: Building Resilience and Transforming Emerging Economies,” is broad enough to touch almost every sector, from climate and education to health, agriculture, renewable energy, and entrepreneurship.

Before the summit begins, take a few minutes to think about the challenges or opportunities that matter most to you. Having a clear focus will help you decide which sessions to attend and the conversations you want to have.

The more intentional you are, the more valuable the experience is likely to be.

2. Don’t Spend All Your Time With People You Already Know

It’s comfortable to stick with familiar faces, especially at large events.

But one of the biggest benefits of attending a summit like ASIS is meeting people you probably wouldn’t cross paths with on a normal workday.

You might find yourself speaking with a policymaker, an entrepreneur, an investor, a development practitioner, or someone working on a solution to a challenge you’ve been thinking about.

Sometimes the most valuable conversation is the one you never planned to have.

3. Ask Questions

Whether you’re attending a panel session, a keynote, or a workshop, don’t be afraid to ask questions.

You don’t need to have all the answers before joining the conversation.

In many cases, asking a thoughtful question can lead to a meaningful discussion long after the session has ended.

Remember, many of the speakers and attendees are there because they believe in sharing knowledge, not keeping it.

4. Take Notes. You’ll Thank Yourself Later.

Ideas have a funny way of disappearing once an event is over.

You may hear a statistic that changes your perspective, a recommendation for a useful tool, or a story that sparks a new idea.

Write it down.

Your notes don’t have to be perfect. They just need to help you remember what stood out and how you might apply it later.

5. Follow Up After the Summit

One of the biggest mistakes people make is treating networking as something that ends when the event does.

If you exchange contact details with someone, don’t let that be the last interaction.

Send a message.

Share a resource you discussed.

Arrange a follow-up conversation if it makes sense.

Strong professional relationships are rarely built in a single meeting. They grow through consistent engagement.

Why ASIS Matters

The Africa Social Impact Summit is more than a conference. Co-convened by the Sterling One Foundation and the United Nations Nigeria, it brings together leaders from government, business, civil society, development organisations, academia, and the private sector to explore practical solutions to some of Africa’s most pressing challenges.

This year’s summit is expected to welcome more than 2,000 attendees, over 50 speakers, and participants from 54 countries, creating opportunities for collaboration across sectors and borders.

Whether you’re interested in climate action, education, healthcare, agriculture, financial inclusion, or sustainable development, the summit offers a chance to hear different perspectives and contribute to conversations that matter.

Five Days to Go

If you’ve already registered, now is the perfect time to prepare for the experience ahead.

If you’ve been meaning to Register but haven’t gotten around to it, consider this your reminder.

The conversations that shape tomorrow often begin with people choosing to show up today.

We’ll see you at ASIS 2026.
