As a Point of Sale (POS) agent, your Personal Identification Number (PIN) is your first line of defence against fraud. Unfortunately, scammers often lurk or pretend to be customers just to steal it as you log in. Once they have your PIN, they can gain unauthorised access to your terminal and funds

Here are some key practices to ensure your PIN remains secure: 

  1. Never share your PIN. Keep your PIN confidential. Don’t disclose it to anyone, not even fellow agents or customers.
  2. Shield your screen. Always cover the keypad with your hand when entering your PIN. This prevents anyone from seeing it.
  3. Use secure locations. Operate your POS in well-lit, safe areas to reduce the risk of theft or fraud.
  4. Avoid unsecured networks. Always use secure networks, such as mobile data or a trusted Wi-Fi connection, to prevent unauthorised access to your financial information.
  5. Store transaction receipts. Always keep a copy of the transaction receipt after every withdrawal or deposit. It serves as proof of the transaction and is useful for resolving disputes.STA
  6. Stay alert: Watch out for suspicious individuals lingering around your POS stand.
  7. Change your PIN regularly: To reduce the risk of a compromised PIN, change it frequently.
  8. Limit distractions: Avoid logging in when you’re distracted by conversations or phone calls.

Report threats: If you notice anyone attempting to spy on your screen or keypad, immediately alert security personnel or report it to your service provider.
