Prior to his appointment, Mr. Olayinka Oni served as the Chief Digital Officer at Sterling Bank Ltd, where he led the execution of the Bank’s digital strategy.
Before joining Sterling Bank, he was the Chief Technology Officer for Microsoft Nigeria, where he was responsible for technology strategy and strategic stakeholder relationships, including engagements with the Federal Government. He also contributed to the development of policies and programmes that supported a more sustainable ICT environment for the organisation.
Mr. Oni previously served as CIO/GM, IT & Operations at Wema Bank Plc. He was also an Experienced Manager with Accenture Nigeria. In addition, he was a co-convener of CIO Nexus, a forum for CIOs in Nigeria, and currently serves as the Chairman of the CIO Forum of Banks in Nigeria.
Mr. Yinka Oni holds a degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ilorin. He is an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB).
His areas of expertise include Solutions Engineering, Programme Management, Enterprise Architecture, and IT Governance. Over the course of his career, Mr. Oni has participated in senior management and executive education programmes in business strategy, financial acumen, digital transformation, and general management at leading international institutions, including Harvard, Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, INSEAD, and MIT. He is also a Cycle 24 participant of the globally acclaimed International Master’s Program for Managers.
