Why I Deserve the Sterling “Beyond Education” Scholarship
By Jeremiah Israel Jonathan
I am Jeremiah Israel Jonathan, a proud indigene of Adamawa State and a determined young Nigerian who refuses to let adversity define his future. Coming from a humble background and having lost my father, I have faced the harsh realities of limited financial support and emotional strain. Yet, I have remained focused on my goal to build a meaningful life through education, hard work, and integrity.
After completing my secondary education, I chose to pursue professional certification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). This decision, though challenging, was fueled by a deep desire to uplift not only myself but also my family and community. With little to no external assistance, I have worked relentlessly, studying under difficult conditions, managing financial constraints, and pushing through periods where giving up felt easier than going on. But I never stopped believing in the power of education to change my life.
This is why the Sterling “Beyond Education” Scholarship represents more than just financial aid to me, it is a door to a brighter future. It is a lifeline for someone like me who has persevered against all odds, who dreams of acquiring quality university education but lacks the means. Miva Open University’s flexible and innovative approach aligns perfectly with my current journey and aspirations. As I continue with my ICAN program, being enrolled in a reputable university like Miva to study Accounting will equip me with broader knowledge and credentials to serve Nigeria better.
I am deeply inspired by Sterling Bank’s commitment to the HEART sectors and its belief in developing Nigeria’s most valuable resource, its people. I see this scholarship as a partnership: your investment in me will not be in vain. I will work with utmost dedication, not just to succeed academically, but to give back by mentoring others from underserved communities like mine who dare to dream big.
In conclusion, I may come from modest beginnings, but I carry with me the strength of resilience, the hunger for knowledge, and the will to rise. With this scholarship, I will not only further my education, I will become a beacon of hope for many others from backgrounds like mine.
