I’m currently in my final year studying Accounting in Obafemi Awolowo University, Center for Distance Learning. I’ll be done by next month. But to be honest, Accounting was never my first choice. I’ve always loved writing, media and communications. I wrote my first story at the age of 8 and launched my first book last year at 19. Writing has always been a big part of who I am.
I chose Accounting because of pressure and expectations, plus it felt like the right path at the time. As a result, even though I’ve worked hard, my grades haven’t been the best. It’s been a tough journey, but I’ve tried to stay committed and keep pushing forward.
Now, I work as a writer, and I’ve been saving little by little to study Mass Communication at Miva University because the distance learning program provides flexibility. But it may take a long time to raise the full amount on my own. That’s why I’m applying for this scholarship, so I can finally study what I love and give it my best.
I know there are others applying who may not even have a degree at all, and I respect that. While their story requires more attention, I believe mine is worth considering too. I’ve learned a lot from my journey, and I’m ready to start again, this time with full focus and passion.
This scholarship would mean a fresh start for me. A chance to finally follow the path that feels right. And with it, I’m determined to succeed, do better, and advance in my career in media and communication.
