I nominated myself for this scholarship because I recognise the vital role of communication, especially when it is lacking. Growing up in Nigeria, I witnessed how misinformation and poor media portrayal can shape people’s thoughts, decisions, and futures. These experiences fueled my passion to study a degree in media and communications.
Growing up in an average family was challenging. I attended government-owned schools with limited resources and access to quality information. However, these experiences pushed me to think differently, which sparked my interest in storytelling, Public speaking and writing.
Over the years, I have served as a Social Media Manager, Public Relations Expert, and Digital Creative Director for NGOs. These roles further widen my perspective of the media space and made me realise that media is not just about sharing content—it is about connecting people, influencing perspectives, and making an impact.
Furthermore, I have led community projects, coordinated Christian events, handled public relations, and managed various programs. These experiences demonstrated the power of effective communication. I’ve also developed both technical and creative skills— designing graphics, editing videos, and crafting work that is both beautiful and meaningful. I am skilled at articulating thoughts clearly through writing and speaking. I believe these abilities are valuable in today’s media landscape, and I am eager to enhance them through formal training.
Moreover, I am fascinated by Miva University’s flexible learning approach. It would allow me to study while gaining practical experience. I plan to secure an internship as a communications officer during my studies to gain real-world insights and apply what I learn immediately.
Nominating myself reflects my readiness. I am prepared to learn, grow, and use my voice to elevate others’ voices, especially those who are often unheard. I believe this scholarship will help me achieve my goal of becoming a communications manager for an international NGO, where I can leverage media to tell impactful stories and foster meaningful change.
This journey is beyond earning a degree; it is about purpose. It is about building a future where communication empowers, educates, and inspires—starting with myself.
