My name is Ugorji Joseph Okoronkwo, and I am nominating myself for the Sterling Scholarship because I believe in purposeful growth\u2014and I\u2019m ready for my next leap.<\/p>\n
I currently work as a full stack software engineer at the head office of Dana Group of Companies, where I\u2019ve had the privilege of building real-world systems and solving meaningful problems. But while I\u2019m proud of how far I\u2019ve come with just an OND in Computer Engineering and years of self-driven learning, I know that to fully step into the next phase of my career\u2014in cybersecurity\u2014I need formal training, a BSc, and the right guidance.<\/p>\n
Cybersecurity has become more than just an interest for me; it\u2019s a calling. I\u2019ve seen firsthand how vulnerable organizations and communities can be in our digital age, and I want to be equipped to help protect, defend, and build trust into the systems we all rely on. But making that pivot\u2014while working full time and without financial support\u2014is a real challenge.<\/p>\n
This scholarship isn\u2019t just about funding a degree. For me, it\u2019s a lifeline to a future where I can combine my existing software engineering experience with deep cybersecurity expertise to create lasting impact. It\u2019s a bridge from where I am to where I\u2019m meant to be.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve never waited for opportunities to come to me\u2014I work hard, I stay committed, and I grow. All I\u2019m asking now is for the chance to grow in the right direction, with the right support.<\/p>\n
