Pitch Summary

I am nominating myself for this scholarship because I am passionate about utilising data to address real-world problems in my community. Growing up in Ojo, Lagos, I’ve seen firsthand how environmental challenges, such as poor waste management, affect people’s daily lives. This inspired me to study Data Science and develop innovative solutions that can make a real impact.
Through the 3MTT program, I worked on a waste classification project that uses computer vision to identify and sort different types of waste. That experience strengthened my belief that technology, when applied the right way, can change lives and communities.
However, pursuing this dream hasn’t been easy financially. This scholarship would support my education, allowing me to focus on building the technical and research skills I need to create data-driven solutions for Nigeria’s development. I’m confident that with this opportunity, I can go further, contribute more, and inspire others from communities like mine to believe that innovation can come from anywhere.
