Dear Sterling,

My name is Jubilee Oluoma Ikekwem, I am 19 years old, and I am applying for the Miva Beyond Education Scholarship in partnership with Sterling Bank Limited. I am nominating myself for this scholarship because it represents a life changing opportunity for me, my family, and the future I dream about.

I grew up watching my mother work very hard to support us. She deals in firewood, and despite the challenges of that business, she has always done everything she can to make sure my needs are met. Her strength and sacrifice inspire me every day. However, the income from selling firewood is very small, and it has been difficult for her to support my higher education fully. This scholarship will reduce the financial burden on her and give me the chance to pursue my dream without placing more stress on her.

From childhood, I have always wanted to become a nurse. I admire the way nurses care for people in their most vulnerable moments. My dream is to be that kind of person, someone who can give hope, comfort, and healing to others. For me, nursing is not just a career, it is a calling. I believe that studying nursing through Miva Open University will transform my life by giving me the knowledge, skills, and confidence I need to build a meaningful future.

Miva’s online education program is especially exciting for me. It will help me grow because I can learn with flexibility, access quality resources, and connect with my lecturers and classmates no matter where I am. At the same time, I also plan to spend time around the campus community. My mother’s sister lives in Lagos and has promised to accommodate me if I get this opportunity. Being close to the campus will help me balance online learning with in person support and interaction, which I know will make my journey even more rewarding.

This scholarship will give me the chance to change my story. It will allow me to study nursing, support my family in the future, and also give back to my community by caring for others. I want to move from watching my mother struggle to one day being able to support her and make her proud.

I am nominating myself for this scholarship because I know that with this support, my dream of becoming a nurse will not only be possible but will also create a positive impact on the lives of many others.
